Former Officer Reaches Plea Deal in Domestic Assault Case
CLEAR LAKE, Iowa (AP) — Court records say a former police officer in northern Iowa has reached a plea deal in his domestic abuse case and wants to change his plea.
Thirty-six-year-old Ryan Eskildsen pleaded not guilty in January to a misdemeanor count. He’s accused of grabbing and striking his wife at their home Nov. 29.
A judge has scheduled a plea hearing April 4 in Mason City. The court records don’t say whether Eskildsen will plead to the same charge or whether a new charge will be filed.
Eskildsen quit the Clear Lake force Feb. 10.
Gregg Allman Cancels All Upcoming Tour Dates
Gregg Allman has canceled all of his scheduled concerts for 2017. No further explanation has been offered for this decision.
“It has been determined that Gregg will not be touring in 2017,” explains a statement on his official website. “For those of you who purchased tickets for shows in June, contact the ticket outlet from where you purchased the tickets for a refund.”
Though there’s been no official explanation, the Allman Brothers alumni canceled all of his remaining 2016 shows last November, due to health concerns.
“This is the hardest thing I’ve had to do in a long, long, time,” he explained at the time. “I’ve been on the road for 45 years because I live to play music with my friends for my fans. As much as I hate it, it’s time for me to take some real time off to heal.”
In August of 2016, Allman canceled several concerts due to a bout with pneumonia. He returned to the stage for a pair of shows in September and October.
In January of 2017, Allman’s former bandmate Butch Trucks died. “I’m heartbroken,” Allman said in an official statement. “I’ve lost another brother, and it hurts beyond words. Butch and I knew each other since we were teenagers, and we were bandmates for over 45 years. He was a great man and a great drummer, and I’m going to miss him forever.”

Paul McCartney 3-Track Cassette to be Released on Record Store Day
Paul McCartney will release a three-track cassette for this year’s Record Store Day, on April 22nd. The project is called Flowers In The Dirt – The Cassette Demos With Elvis Costello.
The cassette features I Don’t Want To Confess, Shallow Grave and Mistress & Maid which were all recorded in 1989.
McCartney says: “The demos are red hot off the skillet and that’s why we wanted to include them on this boxed set. What’s great about these songs is that they’ve just been written, so there’s nothing more hot off the skillet as I say. That was the kind of great instant thing about them.”
“I hadn’t listened to them in ages but when I did I knew we had to put them out. We made a little tape of them and sent them to Elvis, who loved them too. We said we should put out an EP or something and now the moment’s finally arrived.”
Last month, McCartney released a studio demo and video for My Brave Face along with an audio stream of Twenty Fine Fingers from the record.
Along with a standard version of Flowers In The Dirt, the album will be released in a deluxe box set, featuring unreleased demos, videos, a notebook of McCartney’s handwritten lyrics, a collection of Linda McCartney photographs and a 112-page hardcover book.

GOP Lawmakers in Iowa Advance Conservative Wish List
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — About two month into the session, Republicans have moved quickly to capitalize on their control of both legislative chambers, but plenty of work remains as they push through a conservative agenda.
Among the priority issues will be efforts to restrict abortion rights. The Senate passed a bill that would forgo federal Medicaid dollars to create a state-run family planning program that excludes abortion providers. The measure is awaiting House activity. Anti-abortion groups are also supporting a bill that would ban most abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
On wages, the House approved a bill banning local governments from approving a minimum wage that exceeds the state rate of $7.25, and the measure now shifts to the Senate.
The Senate also will take up a bill that would require people to show identification at voting places and a measure making sweeping changes to Iowa’s gun laws.
LISTEN: Peter Frampton’s New Song “I Saved a Bird Today”
Peter Frampton has always used personal experiences to create his music. When a bird flew straight into his window, Frampton had his next idea, after springing into action to tend to the bird, of course.
As Frampton told Guitar World, making sure the bird would be okay left him in something of a reflective mood — not just about the well-being of our feathered friends, but our current sociopolitical climate and how it relates to our basic obligations to our fellow man.
“‘To care for one another is the reason we are here’ — this lyric sums up the song for me,” explained Frampton. “We are all in uncharted territory right now. ‘Perhaps today, [the bird] was on her way to rescue me,’ which doesn’t seem too far off from what we all need. Politeness and caring for each other cannot be a thing of the past. I can’t explain how great the feeling was to have saved a life. Peace, love and truth trump hate every time.”
“I Saved a Bird Today” is now available as a standalone single through Apple Music. While a full project hasn’t been announced, you can still see Frampton on the road, as his tour picks up later this month.
