Nick Mason Envisions Using AI To Make New Pink Floyd Music

Nick Mason recently discussed the possibility of using the help of artificial intelligence to make new Pink Floyd music.

Mason suggested he envisions utilizing AI to sidestep the longstanding feud between bandmembers David Gilmour and Roger Waters to record new Pink Floyd music.

In a recent interview with The Daily Mirror, the drummer admitted there’s no chance of a reunion between the surviving members of the band but expressed an interest in using AI.

“It would be fascinating to see what AI could do with new music. If you tried to run it as a sort of ‘Where did Pink Floyd go after?'” Mason said. “The thing to do would be to have an AI situation where David and Roger become friends again. We could be like ABBA by the time we’ve finished with it.”

The iconic band’s most successful lineup ended when Waters quit the band in 1985 and tried to prevent his bandmates from moving on without him. The fallout between Waters and Gilmour has never properly been resolved.

Rod Stewart Says He’s Aware His ‘Days Are Numbered’

In a recent interview with The Sun, rock legend Rod Stewart, who will turn 80 in January 2025, confessed that he believes his days are numbered.

“I’m aware my days are numbered but I’ve got no fear,” Stewart said. “We have all got to pass on at some point, so we are all in the same basket.

“I am going to be enjoying myself for these last few years as much as I can. I say few – probably another 15. I can do that easy mate, easy.”

The singer added, “I’m not like I was in the ’70s and ’80s and I can’t stay up all night, get drunk and go mad and still have a voice just like that. Nowadays I have to protect my voice before and after every show.”

Stewart revealed in 2019 that he’d beaten prostate cancer. “No one knows this, but I thought it was about time I told everybody,” he said then. “I’m in the clear now, simply because I caught it early. I had so many tests.”

According to a report in February this year, the singer had sold his back catalogue for close to $100million (£79.3million) following a deal with Irving Azoff’s Iconic Artists.

In a statement to the The Wall Street Journal, Stewart said of the deal, “Irving and I are a couple of old-timers and I believe we have a mutual respect and admiration for each other. My life’s work is in safe hands with him.”

B-52’s Kate Pierson Announces New Solo Album ‘Radios And Rainbows’

The B-52’s Kate Pierson has announced a new solo album, Radio And Rainbows. The legendary musician also shared the album’s lead single, “Evil Love.”

“Sometimes evil love is the only love you need,” Pierson said in a statement. “A not so true tale of obsessive possessiveness and righteous revenge. I started out writing a song with the amazing Bleu McCauley with the idea of a song about forgiveness; but when our creative chemistries collided, the result was a noir thriller of a song set on the coast of Maine. And it’s one hell of a storm — so hang onto your hats for Evil Love!”

About the album, she continued, “It’s an eclectic group of songs, anthems, dance things, a disco song… Overall, the album has an upbeat vibe because I wanted to put out something positive in these dark times. I wanted to make it fun!”

Radio And Rainbows is due out September 20. It features Sia, Chris Braide, Jimmy Harry, Tim Andersen, Bleu, and Sam Dixon.

The 17-CD box set will feature 198 tracks, all recorded between the years 1976 and 1987. The tracks include 121 previously unreleased versions of live, studio mixes, or edits, and 15 songs that are being released for the very first time
