Neil Young has announced that he will release a massive Archives Vol. III (1976-1987) box set on Sept. 6.
The 17-CD box set will feature 198 tracks, all recorded between the years 1976 and 1987. The tracks include 121 previously unreleased versions of live, studio mixes, or edits, and 15 songs that are being released for the very first time
The box set also includes five Blu-Ray discs, which contain 11 films, four of which were previously unreleased, plus a 176-page book and a poster.
Young’s first two archival box sets, released in 2009 and 2020, respectively, contained far less music than the upcoming set.
“With over 28 hours of total content, you could drive from New York to Denver, listening the entire time, and still have hours left to enjoy when you arrive!” says a press release.
Additionally, there will be a double vinyl LP set titled Takes, a 16-track compilation containing one track from each of the 16 out of the 17 CDs in the Archives Vol. III box set.
