Aerosmith Announce Retirement From Touring Due To Steven Tyler’s Vocal Injury
After more than five decades, rock ‘n’ roll legends Aerosmith have announced their retirement from touring due to lead singer Steven Tyler’s vocal injury.
The band said it made “a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision – as a band of brothers – to retire from the touring stage” after it became clear that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible.
“He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. We’ve seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side,” Aerosmith said in their announcement.
Originally scheduled to last through February 2024, the five-member lineup’s Peace Out… Farewell Tour abruptly ended on September 9, 2023, just three dates into the tour, after Tyler’s doctor confirmed that in addition to the serious damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx, which requires ongoing care.
The band said in the statement that those who purchased tickets for the remainder of the tour dates through Ticketmaster will automatically be refunded.
Those who purchased via third-party resale sites such as SeatGeek, StubHub and VividSeats have been advised to reach out to their point of purchase for more details.
