On this day in 1988 – Steve Winwood started a four week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘Roll With It’, a No.53 hit in the UK. Later Motown songwriters Holland-Dozier-Holland were credited with co-writing the song due to its resemblance to the Junior Walker hit (I’m a) Roadrunner.

U2 To Release ‘ZOO TV – Live In Dublin 1993’ EP

U2 are set to release an EP featuring five tracks from one of their two open-air performances at the RDS Arena in Dublin in August 1993, their hometown stop on the Zooropa leg of the ZOO TV Tour.
The five-song EP, ZOO TV – Live In Dublin 1993, will be released on August 30.
It will be available in CD, Vinyl (12”) and Digital Release (including Spatial Audio/Atmos) formats.

Hitting the road in support of their acclaimed 1991 album Achtung Baby, ZOO TV took U2 around the world between February 1992 and December 1993, playing to 5.3 million fans over 157 shows, a period which also saw the band record and release their eighth studio album Zooropa.
A worldwide live radio broadcast of the Dublin show allowed an estimated 700 million fans around the globe to tune in with a very ZOO TV invitation to “Watch More Radio.”

Born on this day in 1953 – Geddy Lee, bass, vocals, keyboards, Rush, (1980 UK No.13 single ‘Spirit Of Radio’ 1982 US No. 21 single ‘New World Man’). Lee was made an Officer of the Order of Canada on May 9, 1996. The trio was the first rock band to be so honored, as a group.
Bon Jovi To Release ‘Greatest Hits’ Album On Vinyl For The First Time

Bon Jovi will release their best-selling compilation album Greatest Hits on vinyl for the first time through the Sound Of Vinyl.
The rock band’s 2010 Platinum certified album will be available as limited edition 1LP and 2LP variants on standard black vinyl and exclusive colors at retail and through the artist store on September 13.
The set features their biggest hits, including “Runaway,” “Living On A Player,” “Bad Medicine” and “It’s My Life.”
Last month, Bon Jovi released their latest album, Forever, through Island Records.
Forever marks the New Jersey-based band’s sixteenth studio album.

Solo (1985 UK No.1 single with David Bowie ‘Dancing In The Street’). 1985 UK No. 6 solo album ‘She’s The Boss.’ In 2003 he was knighted for his services to popular music and in early 2009 he joined the electric supergroup SuperHeavy.

Doc has a sweet disposition and is a very smart fellow! Doc is in temporary quarantine for a few medical issues while he undergoes treatment, but Doc will make someone a great furry friend, and would love to meet you!

Neil Young To Join Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp & More At Farm Aid 2024 In Saratoga Springs

Neil Young is set to join Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and more at Farm Aid 2024 in Saratoga Springs, New York.
Farm Aid is scheduled to be held on September 21 at Broadview Stage at Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs.
Besides performances from Farm Aid board members Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews with Tim Reynolds, the lineup also features Staples, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, Lukas Nelson with the Travelin’ McCourys, Charley Crockett, Joy Oladokun, Southern Avenue, Cassandra Lewis and Jesse Welles. Additional artists are yet to be announced.
“We’re energized to be back in New York, said Farm Aid president and founder Nelson in a statement. “The farmers here have always found ways to innovate and contribute to their communities, even as they deal with uncertainties, extreme weather and policies that favor corporations over people. Farmers need us to stand with them as they work to grow our future.”
Tickets for Farm Aid 2024 will go on sale Friday, July 26, at 10 a.m. ET.
Late last month. Neil Young and Crazy Horse canceled the remaining dates of their “Love Earth Tour” dates, citing illness among some of their bandmates.

Born on this day in 1951 – Earth Wind & Fire’s Verdine White

Born on this day in 1951 – Verdine White, bassist with Earth, Wind & Fire, who had the 1975 US No.1 single ‘Shining Star’, and the 1981 UK No.3 single ‘Let’s Groove’. The band has received 20 Grammy nominations and were the first African-American act to sell out Madison Square Garden. Verdine is the only remaining founding member left in the band.
Solo Albums By Rush’s Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson To Be Reissued

Rush members Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee are each reissuing their debut solo albums.
Lifeson’s 1996 effort, Victor, and Lee’s 2000 LP, My Favourite Headache, will each arrive in various formats on August 9th via Rhino Records and Anthem Records.
Lifeson’s Victor will be released on vinyl for the first time ever, in Ruby Translucent 2LP, Blue Translucent 2LP, Crystal Clear Translucent 2LP and Standard Black; as well as on CD.
Victor was originally released on January 9, 1996. Lifeson took on the roles of songwriter, producer, and mixer for this album.
As a Rush Backstage exclusive, Lifeson will personally autograph 1,000 lithographs to be included with the Ruby Translucent 2LPs, which are available only through the Rush Backstage web store.
Meanwhile, My Favourite Headache, which is Geddy Lee’s only solo album to date, was initially released on November 14, 2000. This reissue marks its first vinyl pressing since a limited-edition Record Store Day exclusive in 2019.
Produced by Lee, Ben Mink and David Leonard, the album includes contributions from Mink and drummers Matt Cameron and Jeremy Taggart.
The reissue is available for pre-order on Blue/Green Galaxy 2LP, Green & Blue 2LP and on CD.

On this day in 1969 – Paul McCartney Records ‘Come And Get It’

On this day in 1969 – Paul McCartney recorded a demo of his new song ‘Come and Get It’ at Abbey Road studios in London. McCartney gave the song to The Iveys, (soon to become known as Badfinger). The song was later used as the theme for the movie The Magic Christian. The Beatles also recorded ‘Sun King/Mean Mr. Mustard’ for their forthcoming Abbey Road album.
