Foghat, Jefferson Starship Albums Among Rhino’s Latest Quadio Titles

Rhino’s brand new collection of high-quality quadraphonic releases contains albums from Foghat and Jefferson Starship among others.

Foghat’s Energized, and Jefferson Starship’s Dragonfly along with The J. Geils Band’s Bloodshot (1973) and The Doobie Brothers’ Toulouse Street (1972), have now been digitalized and preserved from their original analog four-track Quad mixes.

These are now available as Blu-ray discs with a quadraphonic and 192/24 stereo mix. Currently exclusive to Rhino.com and select Warner Music Group stores worldwide, each title retails for $24.98, with a bundle of all four available for $79.98.

Quadraphonic sound, or 4.0 surround sound, utilizes four audio channels connected to four speakers positioned at the corners of a listening space. The multi-tracked audio is mixed dimensional, immersing the listener in an expansive soundscape.

Energized, featuring hits such as “Honey Hush” and “That’ll Be The Day,” arrived on January 6, 1974 and reached the Top 40 of the Billboard 200. It garnered a Gold certification from the RIAA.

Jefferson Starship’s Dragonfly, which dropped in October 1974, contained hit tunes such as “Ride The Tiger” and “Hyperdrive.” The record peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard 200.

Chrissie Hynde Says Repeat Concertgoers May Be Moved To ‘Give Local Fans A Chance’

The Pretenders have warned that fans who stand in the front row for “multiple nights” blocking the view of those behind them during the band’s concerts could be moved to give space for local fans.

The British-American rock band’s lead vocalist Chrissie Hynde made the group’s stand clear in a statement posted on social media.

“First of all, thank you to everyone who’s come to see our shows. We’re in the homestretch of this year’s tour and it’s been a real pleasure. Fantastic cities and fantastic audiences. We’ve had a great time playing for you,” Hynde said. “One thing we feel obliged to explain: When we go on tour, the whole point of it for the band is that we are playing to a different audience every night. That’s why we go on tour! So if we’re in Edinburgh (like we are tonight), we look forward to seeing local faces. This is what makes it new for us every night.”

She continued, “We appreciate those of you who follow us and buy tickets for multiple nights, so please don’t be offended if we request you to move out of the front row. All we are asking is that you give the local fans a chance. This is what keeps it new for us…especially after being on tour for so many months.”

Some followers were apparently offended by the Pretenders’ idea and expressed it by saying that they “would never attend another show simply because of this letter.”

Another argument was that standing in the front is the right of a fan who reaches there first by turning up early for shows.
