Thin Lizzy To Release First Album In Over 40 Years ‘Acoustic Sessions’
Thin Lizzy are set to release their first album in more than 40 years.
Thin Lizzy – Acoustic Sessions, which is scheduled for release on January 24, will feature reimagined versions of songs from the Irish rock band’s first three albums, with archival contributions from late frontman Phil Lynott and former drummer Brian Downey.
Thin Lizzy cofounder and guitarist Eric Bell reimagined the songs from the band’s 1971 self-titled debut album, Shades Of A Blue Orphanage (1972), and Vagabonds Of The Western World (1973) by adding acoustic guitar to their tracks.
“I remember recording Eire from our debut album Thin Lizzy in 1971,” says Bell. “I wrote the main guitar part first on acoustic and then we built it up from there. I played the 12-string acoustic throughout the track and introduced the electric on top.
“This was useful in the studio in Belfast recently where we recorded fresh guitar parts to allow us to create new Thin Lizzy acoustic versions of some of our favourite songs, by recreating those original acoustic parts and adding the vocals which Philip laid down on the day and those original drum parts which Brian came up with in the original recording sessions,” he adds.
Pre-order the album here.
Thin Lizzy – Acoustic Sessions Tracklist:
1. Mama Nature Said
2. A Song For While I’m Away
3. Eire
4. Slow Blues – E.B (Eric Bell Version)
5. Dublin
6. Whiskey In The Jar
7. Here I Go Again

Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers’ Mike Campbell To Release Memoir
Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers’ Mike Campbell has announced that his new memoir, titled “Heartbreaker,” will be released on March 18 via Grand Central Publishing.
“A fast-paced, tender-hearted rock ‘n’ roll memoir for the ages, Mike Campbell’s Heartbreaker is part rags-to-riches story and part raucous, seat-of-the-pants adventure, recounting Campbell’s life and times as lead guitarist of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers,” reads a synopsis by the publisher.
Brilliant, soft-spoken and intensely private, Campbell opens up within these pages for the first time, revealing himself to be an astute observer of triumphs, tragedies and absurdities alike, with a songwriter’s eye for the telling detail and a voice as direct and unpretentious as his music.
An instant classic, “Heartbreaker” is Campbell’s heartfelt portrait of one throwaway kid’s lifesaving love of music and the creative heights he achieved through luck, collaboration, humility and extraordinary talent.
The memoir reflects the less-than-glamorous background from which Campbell emerged as the lead guitarist and songwriter for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers from the band’s inception in 1976 to Tom Petty’s tragic death in 2017.
“Heartbreaker” will be available in hardcover, e-book ad audio book formats.
