Ringo Starr Announces New Single ‘February Sky’ From Upcoming EP ‘Crooked Boy’

Beatles legend Ringo Starr has announced a new single, “February Sky,” from his upcoming EP, Crooked Boy.

Crooked Boy will be Starr’s fourth consecutive EP and includes four original tracks – “February Sky,” “Gonna Need Someone,” “Adeline,” and “Crooked Boy.” All songs were written and produced by Linda Perry for Starr to make his own, adding vocals and playing drums.

The EP will be released on a limited-edition marble vinyl on Record Store Day on April 20. On April 26, it will be released digitally. Fans can pre-order the black vinyl and CD now, releasing on May 31.

After previously collaborating on two songs that appeared on earlier Ringo EPs, Linda approached Ringo and asked if she could produce an entire EP. That was the origin of Crooked Boy.

“Linda made me a great EP – she produced it in her studio and then sent me the tracks and I added the drumming and my vocals,” Ringo said. “‘February Sky’ is great – very moody – but since Linda wrote these specifically for me – it of course has to have a positive peace & love element.”

February Sky will be available to stream and download Friday, April 12 on all platforms; fans can pre-save the track now at https://recordstoreday.com/SpecialRelease/17624. A video that includes never seen clips from Ringo’s archives was also created.

Fans can get a first listen to the entire EP at Amoeba Music Hollywood on April 18. Amoeba will have an exclusive “February Sky” red vinyl 7″ single available for sale at this event in limited quantities. Details for the playback and single are available at https://www.amoeba.com/live-shows/upcoming/detail-2854/.

Ringo will be taking his All Starr Band back on the road for 12 shows this Spring with additional dates in the Fall coming soon.

Melissa Etheridge Docuseries ‘I’m Not Broken’ Headed To Paramount+

Paramount+ has announced a two-part docuseries, “Melissa Etheridge: I’m Not Broken,” will premiere on the streaming service later this year.

The docuseries centers on the Grammy-award winning rock star and activist penning an original song inspired by letters sent from incarcerated women in her Kansas hometown.

“Melissa Etheridge: I’m Not Broken” tells an inspiring story of healing and transcendence through the power of music when five female residents from the Topeka Correctional Facility, a women’s prison in Kansas, write letters to Etheridge that she uses as inspiration to create and perform an original song for them.

Having recently lost her son to opioids, Etheridge works to understand and interrupt the cycle of addiction while connecting with these women who, so often, are forgotten by society.

Additionally, the docuseries explores themes of female incarceration, redemption, substance abuse, generational trauma, grief and healing.

“I’m excited for audiences to join me on this powerful journey and hear these remarkable stories filled with pain and struggle but also hope and healing,” said Melissa Etheridge. “I hope that this docuseries shows viewers the challenges that women face in our prison system while also serving as a resource to those who currently are struggling.”

“Melissa Etheridge: I’m Not Broken” is directed by Brian Morrow and Amy Scott, and produced by Jonathan Lynch for Shark Pig Studios.

Meanwhile, Etheridge will serve as a presenter at the CMT Music Awards, to be held on Sunday.

John Oates Announces New Solo Album ‘Reunion,’ Shares Title Track

John Oates has announced a new solo album, Reunion, which is set to be released on May 17th. As a preview, he has released the title track.

“The idea for writing a song about a Reunion came to me when I began to think about the true definition of the word,” Oates shared. “It came together when my 100-year-old father told me that he was making ready to be together with my mother, who had passed away some time ago. I wanted to write about the idea of reconnecting with the most essential part of our soul and our spirit.”

“I brought the idea to a co-writing session with a newfound friend, AJ Croce, a man with songwriting in his DNA and who is both an amazing piano player and someone who I sensed would relate to this idea. The song flowed out in a few hours,” he added. “Then I took it home and translated it into a style that I could perform on guitar. We recorded it in Nashville with some of my best friends and were able to capture the truth as I envisioned it to be. I hope it means as much to you as it does to me, and if that is so, then this is my personal definition of a ‘hit.'”

Oates co-wrote the title song with A.J. Croce, son of the late singer Jim Croce, and recorded in Nashville.

In support of his new album, Oates will be touring throughout the rest of the year and all next year.

Reunion marks Oates’ first solo studio album since 2018’s Arkansas.
