Legendary rock band The Who have announced a super deluxe edition of their 1975 album, The Who By Numbers.

50 years on, The Who By Numbers is to be reissued on October 30 as a 5CD/1Blu-Ray Super Deluxe Edition boxset featuring a 100-page hard back book with photos, memorabilia and exclusive notes from Pete Townshend and Who expert Andy Neill, 92 unreleased tracks and mixes, brand new Atmos, 5.1 and Stereo mixes by Pete Townshend, 11 of Pete’s original demos for the album, tracking sessions from Ramport and Shepperton Studios, early mixes, guide vocals, the full version of Live At the Vetch Field, and on the Blu-Ray audio and video from a previously unreleased Who concert shot on 2″ videotape from Metropolitan Stadium, Pontiac, Michigan.

The Who By Numbers, released in early October 1975, is the seventh studio album by The Who and marked a watershed moment for the band.

This new super deluxe edition sheds light on the making of the album and the state of mind of its composer, Pete Townshend. As he puts it in the 100-page making-of-the-album book that accompanies the box set, “I could feel a new wave or reaction and rebellion coming in the music business, the big bands were becoming careless and self-indulgent. I wanted my songs to continue to have a cathartic function for our audience. When punk hit a few years later, I was not surprised.”

“In some ways, The Who By Numbers is my favourite [Who] album. For me, songs like ‘Imagine A Man’, ‘How Many Friends’ and ‘However Much I Booze’ expose our vulnerabilities, and the album is wonderful for that,” says Roger Daltrey.

The Who appear to have reunited with longtime drummer Zak Starkey, more than a year after his turbulent departure from the legendary rock band.

Frontman Roger Daltrey revealed during a solo show in Las Vegas last week that The Who had recently rehearsed with Starkey, saying it “sounded great.”

Starkey subsequently confirmed the reunion, saying he was looking forward to performing with the band again.

“I’m so happy to be back playing the music I love with people I love,” Starkey said, describing the rehearsal as “absolutely on fire.”

Starkey, the son of Ringo Starr, had played with The Who since 1996. His departure in 2025 followed an onstage dispute during a performance of “The Song Is Over.” He was initially fired, briefly reinstated and then removed again before the band’s North American farewell tour.

The Who completed their U.S. farewell tour in October 2025 but have indicated that their story may not be over, with potential European shows still possible. No new tour dates have been announced yet.

Peter Gabriel recently shared his latest single, “Looking for the Happy.”

“Looking for the Happy” is the ninth song to be released from Gabriel’s forthcoming album, o\i, due out on the sturgeon full moon.

The song was written and produced by Gabriel and the first mix to be released is the Bright-Side Mix by Mark “Spike” Stent.

“In the song I’m talking about trying to communicate with animals or connecting with nature, or sitting under the old oak tree with a cup of tea and appreciating that. The simple things – opening up to what’s good, while we’re busy complaining about what’s bad. Trying to get a handle on where you fit in life, that’s part of what I write about a lot. Also getting comfortable with two contradictory ideas simultaneously has been part of growing old – like being a part of everything and a part of nothing,” says Gabriel.

He adds, “This was one of those songs that began with a groove, originally a groove with a Latin flavour. The groove is always so important to me, if I don’t feel it in my body, then everything is a whole lot harder. There are obviously songs I write which are not groove based, but this is one where it clearly helped shape the song. I’m always happy once the groove is kicking, it suggests where to go and makes it easy to play through and explore different ideas. Then I can take one look around the studio at any time and see happy faces everywhere and I think – this is why I play music.”

The cover art for “Looking for the Happy” is called “Closed Circuit II” by Tishan Hsu.

The Dark-Side Mix of “Looking for the Happy” will be released on the next new moon.

Rubyworks have released a new recording by U2 of Shane MacGowans’ high energy track “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah.”

The powerful new interpretation features as a standout track on the upcoming tribute album, 20th Century Paddy – The Songs of Shane MacGowan, set for release on November 13.

Curated in close partnership with Victoria Mary Clarke and Siobhan MacGowan, the album takes its title from a project Shane MacGowan himself had long envisioned. The collection brings together an international assembly of music talent, including Bruce Springsteen, Hozier, Tom Waits, The Libertines, and Glen Hansard, to celebrate the genius of one of Ireland’s greatest lyricists.

Originally released in 1988, “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah” captures Shane MacGowan’s signature blend of punk energy and poetic wit. In their new rendition, U2 channels that spirit while infusing the track with their signature driving basslines, textured guitar work, and unmistakable arena scale dynamic.

At least 50 percent of all artist royalties from 20th Century Paddy – The Songs of Shane MacGowan will be donated to the Dublin Simon Community. The funds will support people experiencing homelessness across Dublin, a cause Shane MacGowan championed throughout his life.

Sony Music Vision has shared the official trailer for, Queen Budapest, the first Western stadium rock show to take place behind the Iron Curtain, and the final filmed Queen live performance.

Queen Budapest will be released globally in cinemas and IMAX from October 7 for a limited time only, in partnership with Trafalgar Releasing, spanning 2000+ cinemas across 50+ territories.

The theatrical release also features a brand-new interview with Brian May and Roger Taylor, reflecting on the band’s unforgettable performance in Budapest and the lasting cultural impact of this landmark concert.

Filmed on July 27, 1986, at Budapest’s Népstadion during the band’s “The Magic Tour,” Queen Budapest captures the band’s final filmed performance with Freddie Mercury at their live peak, just five shows before their final show. The film features hits such as “We Will Rock You,” “We Are the Champions,” “Under Pressure” and “Bohemian Rhapsody,” along with an acoustic take on the traditional Hungarian folk song “Tavaszi Szél Vizet Áraszt.”

The Hungarian government approved the entire operation, which was a first for a Communist State.

Queen Budapest will be released to mark the 40th anniversary of this pivotal moment in the band’s history, and the film has been meticulously restored in 4K from the original filmed 35mm footage by Sir Peter Jackson’s Park Road Post Production facility in New Zealand, with newly remixed audio from the original multitrack recordings.

Queen Budapest will also be released as a multi-format audio package via Legacy Recordings internationally, and Hollywood Records in the U.S. and Canada on October 30. The soundtrack, newly remixed from the original multitrack by Queen’s studio team, will be released alongside the Blu-Ray, DVD, CD & Digital editions as a 3LP vinyl set for the first time.

Legendary rock star Alice Cooper has announced he will hold his 24th annual fundraising concert “Christmas Pudding” on December 12th.

The benefit concert, featuring Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider, Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale and Joe Hottinger, John 5 and the Creatures, and several other acts, will take place at Phoenix’s Celebrity Theatre.

This year’s concert will also feature a performance by the Solid Rock Dance Company, as well as the winners of this year’s Proof is in the Pudding performer competition.

Proceeds from the concert will go to Cooper’s Solid Rock Teen Centers in Arizona. The centers benefit children aged 12 to 20 by providing music, dance, art and vocational programs.

“We are excited to celebrate our 24th year with another incredible lineup of artists who generously give their time and talent to support the teens at our three Teen Centers,” Cooper said. “We are grateful to everyone who continues to make Christmas Pudding one of the Valley’s favorite holiday traditions, and we look forward to another unforgettable night of music and mayhem.”
