The 50th anniversary of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will be celebrated with the release of a new box set, Origins 1971-1978, exploring the band’s formative years. The collection is due out November 6 via UMe.

The five-LP collection traces Petty’s musical development from the early Mudcrutch recordings through the formation of the Heartbreakers and their emergence in Los Angeles.

At its center is No Sleep Til L.A., a 12-track rarities collection featuring seven previously unreleased songs and five tracks in new high-resolution mixes.

The box set also includes 50th anniversary editions of the band’s first two albums, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and You’re Gonna Get It!, newly mixed and remastered by longtime producer and engineer Ryan Ulyate.

Also featured is Live From the Record Plant 1977, released in full for the first time, along with The Cut Out Bin, which collects recordings Petty made with session musicians and Leon Russell. The set closes with the band’s 1978 performance on the BBC’s The Old Grey Whistle Test.

The collection will be available in 5-LP, 4-CD and deluxe formats, with the vinyl editions featuring an 88-page fanzine and archival memorabilia.
