On this day in 1970, The Beatles started a two week run at #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Let It Be”. The song was released as a single off the album of the same name.
The song was the group’s 19th US #1 in 6 years and would end up being Certified Double Platinum by the RIAA.
“Let It Be” was the band’s final single before McCartney announced his departure from the group.
