On this day in 1984, Kenny Loggins started a three week run at #1 on theUS Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Footloose”. The song was the theme for the film of the same name and was released as the first single for the soundtrack.

Loggins “Footloose” was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 1985 ceremony, losing to Stevie Wonder’s “I Just Called to Say I Love You: from The Woman in Red.
