On this day in 1996 – A statue in Montreux, Switzerland by sculptor Irena Sedlecka was erected as a tribute to Freddie Mercury. Standing almost 10 feet (3 metres) high overlooking Lake Geneva it was unveiled by Freddie’s father and Montserrat Caballé, with bandmates Brian May and Roger Taylor also in attendance.

The Beatles’ New ‘Anthology Collection,’ ‘Anthology 4’ Out Now
As The Beatles’ global Anthology 2025 campaign rolls on with this autumn’s exciting music, documentary series, and book releases, the new Anthology Collection and Anthology 4 music compendiums have been released by Apple Corps Ltd./Capitol/UMe.
The complete Anthology Collection features 191 tracks across Anthology 1, 2, and 3, and the new Anthology 4 (also available individually), which boasts 13 previously unreleased demos and session recordings and other rare tracks, alongside “Now And Then” and Jeff Lynne’s new 2025 mixes for “Free As A Bird” and “Real Love.” Beautifully restored, the music video for “Real Love” is also out, joining the restored “Free As A Bird” video released in August.
Originally curated by George Martin, Anthology’s music collections are newly remastered by Giles Martin. They provide enthralling insight into the early development of songs that became the recorded masterpieces, resonating just as loudly today as they did when they were first recorded.
“The Beatles Anthology” documentary series will be streaming exclusively on Disney+ on November 26, 27 and 28.
Disney+ recently shared a trailer and key art for its upcoming release of “The Beatles Anthology.” Episodes 1-3 of the series launch on November 26, followed by Episodes 4-6 on November 27 and Episodes 7-9 on November 28.

On this day in 1991 – Queen frontman Freddie Mercury Dies
On this day in 1991 – Queen frontman Freddie Mercury (born Farrokh Bulsara) died at the age of 45, following complications from the AIDS virus. His death came just one day after he announced his diagnosis to the press. Mercury co-founded Queen in 1970, and remained the band’s frontman throughout his life. Beloved for his flamboyant stage presence and his impressive vocal range, Mercury wrote many of the band’s best-loved hits, including the operatic “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Somebody to Love,” and the enduring anthem, “We Are the Champions.” Outside of Queen, Mercury pursued a variety of projects, including his solo album, Mr. Bad Guy – a Top Ten hit in the UK.
Santana Announce 2026 ‘Oneness’ Tour Dates
Grammy-winning Rock & Roll Hall of Fame guitarist Carlos Santana has announced that his band Santana will hit the road for additional dates of the “Oneness” tour in 2026.
Santana will perform high-energy, passion-filled songs from their fifty-year career, including fan favorites from Abraxas to Woodstock to Supernatural, and beyond.

Ringo Starr Announces Spring 2026 Tour Dates With His All-Starr Band
Ringo Starr has announced 12 new tour dates with his All Starr Bandset for May and June 2026.
The tour kicks off on May 28 at Pechanga Resort & Casino and wraps up on June 14 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
The Beatles legend is touring with his current All Starr Band featuring Steve Lukather, Colin Hay, Warren Ham, Hamish Stuart, Gregg Bissonette and Buck Johnson.
“I am happy to be touring again in the Spring,” Ringo said, “see you all in June. Peace and love.”
Tickets go on sale to the general public on November 21st via Ticketmaster.

On this day in 2003 – Iconic George Harrison Guitar Auctioned
On this day in 2003 – An acoustic guitar on which the late Beatle George Harrison learned to play fetched £276,000 at a London auction. His father originally bought the Egmond guitar for Harrison for £3.50. Another item auctioned was a signed invitation to the post-premiere celebrations for The Beatles Hard Days Night film, which went for £17,250.

Genesis Publications has announced an official chronicle of Van Halen by Alex Van Halen.
Featuring a dynamic blend of iconic photography alongside rare and never-before-seen images, and with exclusive access to his private archives, Van Halen offers a personally guided tour through the band’s legendary career.
Signed, written and curated by Alex Van Halen, this authorized publication opens the Van Halen family archive for the first time. The years 1978-1984 are explored through correspondence, tour memorabilia, album artwork, press material, musical equipment, unpublished photographs and much more – charting the brothers’ journey from childhood and the band’s formation to their debut and meteoric rise.

On this day in 1995 – The Beatles Anthology 1 was released in the US, featuring 60 tracks including the track ‘Free As A Bird’, a song originally composed and recorded in 1977 as a home demo by John Lennon. In 1995 a studio version of the recording, incorporating contributions from Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr was released as a single by The Beatles.
Rolling Stones Release ‘Black And Blue’ Super Deluxe Box Set
Nearly five decades after its original release, The Rolling Stones celebrate their groundbreaking 1976 album Black and Blue with a definitive Super Deluxe Box Set, available now worldwide via Universal Music.
Originally released in April, 1976, Black and Blue marked a bold new chapter for the band and now returns in a stunning, remixed and expanded package across multiple formats.
Available as a 5LP vinyl box set and a 4CD box set, both editions include a Blu-ray disc, a 100-page hardback book, and a replica tour poster. A limited 5LP edition on exclusive black and blue marbled vinyl is also available via select online retailers, alongside streamlined 2-disc and 1-disc formats on both vinyl and CD. Additionally, a limited 1LP zoetrope vinyl edition is available here.
Black and Blue was the Stones’ 13th studio album, the first following the departure of former guitarist Mick Taylor who was eventually replaced by Ronnie Wood.
The Black and Blue 2025 reissue features a brand new mix by acclaimed producer Steven Wilson, alongside a six track disc of previously unreleased recordings, including the Mick Jagger/Keith Richards composition “I Love Ladies” plus a high-energy take on Shirley & Company’s “Shame, Shame, Shame.” Also included are four amazing Stones instrumental jams from the 1975 sessions featuring the guest guitarists.
The Super Deluxe Box Set also includes a full live concert recording from the band’s celebrated six night residency at London’s Earls Court Exhibition Centre, where they were joined onstage by Ian Stewart, Billy Preston, and Ollie Brown – all of whom had contributed to the studio album.
The accompanying Blu-ray disc offers a previously unreleased TV broadcast of the Stones’ 1976 show at Les Abattoirs in Paris, plus Dolby Atmos surround sound mixes of both the studio album and the live Earls Court concert. All audio content is also available in high-resolution stereo. Rounding out the Super Deluxe Box Set is a 100-page hardback book featuring a new essay by Stones expert Paul Sexton, exclusive photographs from the album sessions and tour, and a replica poster from the 1976 Paris concert.
