May 3rd: On This Day

On this day in 1986, Robert Palmer went to No.1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Addicted To Love'”.  The song was released as the second single from Palmer’s Riptide album.

The song originally was recorded by Palmer and Chaka Khan as a duet, but due to contractual problems, her voice was removed.

It was one of the last 45 RPM singles to receive a million-selling Gold certification.
