OSKALOOSA — Three William Penn Statesmen were honored for extraordinary seasons as the 2022 all-Heart of America Athletic Conference men’s soccer teams were announced Wednesday.
Aaron Keita (Sr., Monrovia, Liberia) was a first-team honoree, while Luke Andrews (Sr., Andover, England, Sports Management) collected second-team recognition. Chanin Olandin (So., Oslo Norway, Sports Management) earned a third-team laurel as well. There were 14 individuals chosen for each of the three squads.
The award is the first for Olandin, while Keita and Andrews are now two-time selections; both were second-teamers in 2021.
The trio has helped William Penn to a 9-5-3 overall record entering the Heart Tournament, including a 6-4-2 record in the league.
Keita has just one assist to his credit, but has controlled the midfield for the navy and gold, on both the offensive and defensive ends.
Andrews, along with two assists this fall, has been an integral part of WPU’s defense, which has posted six shutouts and has permitted just 1.12 goals per game.
Olandin’s six goals and 15 points lead the Statesmen, while his three assists are tied for second on the crew. He recorded all six of his tallies in league play.
Sam Green of Missouri Valley was chosen as the Heart Player and Offensive Player of the Year, while Jesse Bank of Central Methodist claimed the Defensive POY award. MidAmerica Nazarene’s Jony Munoz garnered the Newcomer of the Year award and Beer De Vos of CMU was tabbed as the Freshman of the Year. CMU’s Alex Nichols received Coach of the Year accolades from his peers.
