Born on this day in 1948 – Mark Farner, American singer, guitarist and songwriter, best known as the lead singer and lead guitarist for Grand Funk Railroad who had the US No.1 single with their version of ‘The Loco-Motion’ which was produced by Todd Rundgren. They were the most successful US hard rock  band of the 70s selling over 20 million albums.
