Several area athletes have been honored on the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association All-State football teams.
Three Montezuma players are on the 8-man All-State squad. Linebacker Eddie Burgess is on the first team, kicker Owen Cook on the second team and defensive back Connor Van Zee on the third team.
Sigourney-Keota is well represented on the 1A All-State squad. Running back Cade Molyneux, offensive lineman Zach Smithart and kicker Colten Clarahan are on the first team. Cobras’ offensive lineman Aidan Schuster, defensive lineman Cade Streigle and kick returner Levi Crawford are on the second team. Third team honors went to Pella Christian quarterback Isaac Kacmarynski, Sigourney-Keota offensive lineman Conner Reed and Cobras’ linebacker Jack Clarahan.
Four Lynnville-Sully players are on the Class A third team: running back Corder Noun Harder, defensive lineman Ty Jones, linebacker Kyle Squires and defensive back Conner Maston.
Looking at Class 2A, second team All-State honors go to Albia offensive lineman Jackson Pence, along with four PCM Mustangs: running back Aiden Anderson, offensive lineman Durant Van Dyke, punter Tyler Kuecker and defensive utility player Carson Vandelune. And PCM offensive lineman Ayden Camu, Albia kick returner Wyatt Beckwith and PCM defensive lineman Donovan Nickelson earned third team All-State honors.
Grinnell offensive lineman Gene Blaylock is on the Class 3A All-State second team.
And in Class 4A, third team All-State honors go to Pella running back Nolan Clayberg, Newton offensive lineman Jacob Nichols and Pella kicker Luke Hardman.
