Oskaloosa’s volleyball team starts the new season ranked fifth in Class 4A in the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union preseason poll. The Indians are coming off a 21-8 season where they made it to the region championship game. There are other Little Hawkeye Conference teams in the 4A poll besides Oskaloosa: Pella is ranked ninth, Indianola tenth and Norwalk 15th.
The Indians’ volleyball team opened the season on the court Monday (8/23) winning all three games at a tournament in Carlisle. Oskaloosa defeated Ottumwa 21-15 and 21-5, Carlisle 21-17 and 21-10, and then needed three sets to beat Knoxville. Knoxville won the first set 23-21, before Osky won the next two sets 21-19 and 15-9. The Indians will be back in Carlisle for another tournament Thursday (8/26), featuring East Marshall and Creston.
