This day in 1968: Syd Barrett departs Pink Floyd

This day in 1968 – Pink Floyd announced founder Syd Barrett had officially left the group. Barrett was suffering from psychiatric disorders compounded by drug use. Barrett would release two solo albums in 1970; “The Madcap Laughs” and “Barrett” before withdrawing from public life. Barrett died at home in Cambridge on July 7, 2006 aged 60, from pancreatic cancer.
