PELLA—The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) released its first Division III rankings for the 2015-16 season and Central College junior Matt Seabold (Burlington) was slotted at No. 4 at 197 pounds.
Seabold became the 45th All-American wrestler in school history last season after finishing eighth at the NCAA Division III Championships. He registered a 24-8 record last year while leading the team with 60 takedowns.
At 197 pounds, Seabold is one of two wrestlers from the Iowa Conference ranked, as Wartburg’s Gerard Roman comes in at No. 2. The Iowa Conference has a total of 18 wrestlers ranked across all 10 weight classes.
Three conference schools are in the team rankings. Wartburg leads the way at No. 1, while Luther and Coe follow close behind at No. 3 and No. 6 respectively.
The wrestling season kicks on November 7 for Central when they travel to Platteville, Wisconsin for the Wisconsin-Platteville Invitational.
