Wood & Plummer Take Fall Challenge Night One Wins

Mother Nature Claims Night Number Two

Oskaloosa, Iowa: The Musco Lighting Fall Challenge opener was held on Friday, September 20^th with a strong field of 75 competitors signed in on a nice fall evening and racing was held in front of a good sized enthusiastic crowd.

The final race of the night was the Mid State Machine Stock Car 16 lap feature. Nathan Wood took command early bolting into the lead from his outside front row starting position. Wood was challenged lap after lap by a strong running Todd Reitzler, the 22R of Reitzler was able to pull alongside Wood on several occasions but Wood was up for the challenge and held on for a car length win over Reitzler. Donovan Nunnikhoven ran in the lead pack for the majority of the main event and settled for third at he checkers.

The Oskaloosa Quality Rental Sportmods thrilled the crowd with a very good feature that saw several drivers take their turn holding the point position. Dylan VanWyk led early before a restart late in the race setup a dash to the finish. The lead pack included VanWyk, Tim Plummer, Logan Anderson and a strong running Curtis VanDerWal who started 22^nd in the main event. Tim Plummer took advantage of the restart and shot into the lead using the high groove as VanDerwal took to the low groove and set his sights on Plummer. Plummer crossed under the checkers first with VanDerWal a close second ahead of VanWyk.

The Parker Tree Service Hobby Stock main event saw Craig Brown hold the lead early by the narrowest margins ahead of Mike Hughes. The two raced several laps with neither able to gain an advantage. Hughes was finally able to secure the lead as the laps wound down. Hughes scored the win with Brown in second ahead of Brad Stephens.

The Auto Crafters Sport Compact main event win went to Quincy, IL driver Jeffrey Delonjay. The 32D of Delonjay took the green back in the 9^th starting position and steadily worked to the front setting up a battle with leader Ryan Havel. Havel had a smoking car late in the race and was slowing as the field raced down the backstretch on the final lap. Delonjay raced past Havel in turn four and went on to score the win over Kyle Boyd and Havel limped to a third place finish.

Jonathan Hughes continued his dominance of the non winged sprint cars by scoring his fourth win of the season at the Musco Lighting Southern Iowa Speedway. Hughes scored an impressive win ahead of Doug Sylvester.

Friday night saw the waving of the final checkered flag of the 2019 season as the wet weather claimed Saturday nights schedule finale of the Fall Challenge.
