Iowa Congressman Dave Loebsack received an award Tuesday (10/23). During a visit to MidAmerican Energy’s Prairie Wind Farm in Mahaska County, Loebsack received the Wind Champion Award from the American Wind Energy Association for his efforts to promote and support the wind industry.
“Iowa is critical, as you know, when it comes to wind energy. Nearly 40% of our electricity comes from wind energy. MidAmerican has done a great job on that; this is one of their projects. The (Wind Energy) Alliance is doing more all the time, too.”
Loebsack is running for re-election next month. The No Coast Network asked him if negative vibes toward Democrats following Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court hearings might filter down to his campaign.
“I don’t hear anything about that from people. I’m here today because of clean energy and it’s jobs. And that’s what I hear. I hear people talk about jobs more than anything else. I know that was in the news for a while and all that. But that’s not what I’m hearing now, quite honestly.”
Loebsack is being challenged by Republican Christopher Peters and Libertarian Mark Straus in the upcoming election.
