After jumping to a 22-0 lead after four weight classes, Oskaloosa ended up falling to Knoxville in wrestling action last night 37-25 as heard live on 99.5/740 AM KMZN . Osky started with Talon Munger winning by fall at 113, Jackson Kargol received a forfeit at 120, then Josh Diehl won by fall at 126 followed by a major decision win by Drew Sams at 132. Osky’s only other win was Jason Beebe who got an 8-1 decision at 170.
The match of the night was at 220 pounds where Oskaloosa’s Callan Tomlin, 5th ranked in Class 3A, battled Knoxville’s Travis Poffenbarger. Tomlin ended up losing 6-5 in 4 overtime periods, but three of Poffenbarger’s six points came on penalty points committed by Tomlin, including when Tomlin was cautioned at the start of the final overtime awarding Poffenbarger the winning point. It’s just Tomlin’s third loss this season. Osky returns to the mats Saturday at the Bean City duals.
