(DES MOINES, Iowa) – Nicholas C. Menough, 37, of Grimes was charged with Fraudulent Submissions, (Class D Felony), Forgery (Class D Felony), and Theft in the 2nd Degree (Class D Felony) following an insurance fraud investigation by the Iowa Insurance Division’s Fraud Bureau.
The charges against Menough, a former licensed insurance agent, stem from an investigation that began in April of 2017. It is alleged that Menough engaged in falsifying insurance policy applications and altering financial documents related to sale of insurance policies in order to receive advanced sales commissions.
On January 31, 2018, a State of Iowa warrant was issued for the arrest of Menough. On February 5th, 2018, Menough was arrested by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and booked into the Polk County Jail. Menough posted a $5,000 cash surety bond and was later released. Trial will be set at a future date.
