Ottumwa Public Library: Downstairs at Downton
April 13, 2017 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
FreeJoin the Ottumwa Public Library on Thursday, April 13th, from 11:30 am –1 pm, as Kathy Wilson presents “Downstairs at Downton” an exploration of the popular series Downton Abbey and how it compares to history. Feel free to bring a bag lunch or you can snack on cookies and coffee from the library.
What was life “really” like below stairs at a place like Highclere Castle? Could the chauffeur really marry the daughter of an Earl? Would a maid help move a dead body to protect her mistress’ reputation? What about all that free time? Get the answers to these and other questions about one of the country’s most popular television series, and discover what life was really like for the people working downstairs.
This program is free and open to everyone. If you are a person with a disability who requires special assistance or for further information, please call the library’s director, Sonja Ferrell at 641-682-7563, extension 202.
