Albia’s Victorian Stroll

Breakfast with Santa hosted at the Trinity Family Life Center, 1115 A Avenue East in Albia from 8:30 – 10:30 am by HCI Hospice Care Services & Auxilary.
The Garden Train & Dept. 56 Display can be found in the First Iowa State Bank on the North side of the square from 9:00 am – 8:00 pm.
The Gate’s Homespun Christmas Shoppe will be held at The Gate Church located on the East side of the Square from 10:00 am – 8:00 pm.
Stop in the Albia Chamber from 10:00 am – 8:00 pm to view the Festival of Trees and cast a vote for your favorite one. Ribbons on sale for the Remembrance Tree at $2.50 each. A Silent Auction will also be held in the Chamber with items donated on display for the public to view and bid on.
Free Kids movie will play in the King Opera House, 115 Benton Avenue East in Albia from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm. Santa will be on hand to pass out goody bags for each child. Adult tickets are $4.00
The Fiber Art Shoppe is hosting Laura Whitlock with Millinery: An Unexpected Career. Laura, an Albia native fell in love with millinery as a student of costume design. There was something about the sculptural nature and human scale of hats that she found endlessly appealing. Over her years in the field, Laura has also become a passionate teacher of millinery. She provides instruction in a wide range of hat making technique at Judith M Studio in LaGrange, Indiana and in the Costume Technology Department at The Theatre School of DePaul University. Programs at 1:00 pm & 3:00 pm. Each program will last approximately an hour.
Cookies & Canvas – Come enjoy an afternoon painting class for kids of all ages presented by Kim George. Children 6 and under should be accompanied by an adult. You must pre-register and pay at the Albia Chamber, $15 each. The class begins at 2:00 pm at the KC Hall.
Come join Sue Clark at Inspire U Bakery to create a vintage winter sign. $45 each. Classes at 10:30 am or 3:30 pm. Must register in advance through the Albia Chamber and seats are limited.
Albia Museum, 114 A Avenue East in Albia, will be open from 4:00 – 8:00 pm featuring a Player Piano and the Kindergarten through 2nd grade display of decorated Christmas trees.
Old Time Victorian Photo Co. – Come in and dress up in Victorian clothing for a fun portrait experience between 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the Edward Jones office! A variety of Victorian era clothing items and props will be provided (or feel free to bring your own), along with your choice of two backdrops. Take home the perfect keepsake from this year’s Stroll. $11 for 2 poses, complimentary souvenir postcard and one 4 x 6 print in your choice of color or sepia tone. Your 4 x 6 image will print while you wait. Additional print sizes and poses will be available for purchase online.
Carriage rides start on the North side of the square from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. Take a horse drawn carriage ride around the square and take in the beautiful Christmas lighting that adorns the 92 buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places, as well as, the lights on the courtyard trees.
Mitchell’s Kettle Korn will be available to purchase on the West side of the square from 5:00 – 8:00 pm.
