Cameron Crowe’s ‘Tom Petty: Heartbreakers Beach Party’ Headed To Theaters

Trafalgar Releasing and the Tom Petty Estate have announced that the lost 1983 cult classic documentary, Tom Petty: Heartbreakers Beach Party, is headed to theaters on October 17 and October 20.

“Heartbreakers Beach Party occupies a special place in my heart,” says the film’s Academy Award-winning director Cameron Crowe. “Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers leaned into the making of the film with a kind of hilarious music-filled honesty that still feels fresh forty years later. It was also my first experience as a director.”

“Thanks to Adria Petty and the Petty Estate, along with our co-filmmakers Danny Bramson, Phil Savenick, Doug Dowdle and Greg Mariotti, I’m so happy we’re bringing it back in all its reckless glory,” he added. “The fact that it was yanked from MTV after only one airing at 2:00 a.m. just shows that it was indeed an outlandish feast for fans in all the best ways. Let that sucker blast!”

The film, restored from its 16mm source, has been fully remastered in 4K.

The highly anticipated film is described as a fun, candid, fast paced, and musically rich ride with America’s greatest rock & roll band, a time capsule of the dawn of the MTV era, and a rare and shining glimpse into Tom Petty’s lasting creative genius.

This exclusive theatrical release features 19 minutes of fully remastered, never before seen, archival bonus footage and new commentary from director Cameron Crowe.

Alongside the film, an expansive reissue, Long After Dark (Deluxe Edition), featuring a collection of rediscovered and unheard songs will be released on October 18.

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young To Release ‘Live At The Fillmore East, 1969’

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young will release a newly discovered multi-track recording of the band’s September 20, 1969 concert at the historic Fillmore East in New York City as a double live album on October 25th.

Live At The Fillmore East, 1969 will be available from Rhino.com on vinyl (2LP) and CD and is available to pre-order at https://csny.lnk.to/LAFE69.

A special clear-vinyl edition will be available exclusively at select retailers on the same day. An unreleased live version of “Helplessly Hoping” is available digitally. Listen to it at https://csny.lnk.to/HHLive

David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash, and Neil Young were heavily involved in the creation of this never-before-heard live show. Stills and Young compiled and mixed the original eight-track concert recordings with John Hanlon at Sunset Sound Studios in Los Angeles. The audio is AAA lacquer cut for the vinyl release to provide the highest audio fidelity.

Young recently said, “[We] have the tapes, and they sound so real. We mixed at Sunset Sound – the analog echo chamber, no digital echo. We’re staying all analog throughout the production…Pure. Analog. No digital – an Analog Original.”

“Hearing the music again after all these years, I can tell how much we loved each other and loved the music that we were creating,” Nash says. “We were four people reveling in the different sounds we were producing, quietly singing together on the one hand, then rocking for the rest of the concert.”

H & S FEED & COUNTRY STORE PET OF THE WEEK: “BISCUIT”

This week’s H&S Feed and Country Store Pet of the Week is “Biscuit”, an 8 year old hound mix. Biscuit is fully vetted, vaccinated, microchipped and ready to go to a loving home. Biscuit is a pretty shy at first, so he will take some time to warm up to you, but he’s well worth the effort. Biscuit gets along ok with other dogs, but cats, not so much.

And because Biscuit is the Pet of the Week, the adoption fee is only $100 this week!

If you’d like to set up an appointment to meet Biscuit or any of the pets at Stephen Memorial Animal Shelter, visit https://www.stephenmemorial.org/ and fill out an adoption application.
