On this day in 1988 – Poison Hit Number One with ‘Every Rose Has Its Thorn’

On this day in 1988 – American glam metal band Poison started a three-week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with ‘Every Rose Has Its Thorn.’ Bret Michaels from the band said the inspiration for the song came from a night when he was in a laundromat in Dallas waiting for his clothes to dry, and called his girlfriend on a pay phone. Michaels said he heard a male voice in the background and was devastated; he said he went into the laundromat and wrote ‘Every Rose Has Its Thorn’ as a result.

Elton John Shares New ‘Step Into Christmas’ Video Starring Cara Delevingne

Elton John recently shared a new music video for his triple platinum-certified 1973 Christmas classic, “Step Into Christmas.”

The video, starring Cara Delevingne as Elton John, reimagines what it was like behind the scenes for the song’s original performance clip from half a century ago.

The actress and model replicates scenes from the original video for “Step Into Christmas,” which topped the Billboard Christmas Singles chart.

“I saw Cara at Glastonbury last summer, and we talked about how much we’d love to work together if the right idea came up,” John said about the visual. “She’s hilarious to spend time with; we both have quite a self-deprecating sense of humor. When someone suggested the idea of her playing me in a riff on the 1973 ‘Step Into Christmas’ video, I just thought it was the perfect opportunity. Thank God Cara thought the same because it came out great.”

“Elton has always been an idol of mine, to say his music has had a deeply profound effect on me is an understatement,” said Delevingne. “To be asked by him to PLAY him in this recreation was a dream that I didn’t know I had until it happened. Honestly, I wish I could pretend to be Elton every day. I hope that Elton may one day return the favor and agree to play me in my not-yet-developed, written, pitched, or funded biopic. Fingers crossed.”
