Iggy Pop Releases ‘Modern Day Ripoff (Live At MJF 2023)’

Iggy Pop recently released “Modern Day Ripoff (Live at MJF 2023)” through earMUSIC, featuring footage of his explosive live performance of “Modern Day Ripoff” at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2023.

the song is from Pop’s upcoming Live at Montreux Jazz Festival 2023 album comprising his entire set from the 2023 edition of the festival.

On July 6, 2023, Pop returned to the Montreux Jazz Festival backed by a seven-piece band and thrilled a capacity Stravinski Auditorium crowd with a career-spanning set including tracks from his time with The Stooges, his Idiot and Lust for Life albums, New Values leading up to his recent release Every Loser.

It marked Iggy’s third appearance at the festival and his monumental performance was recorded and filmed by the Montreux Jazz Festival team. The concert will be available as a Blu-ray+CD Digipak, 2 LP Gatefold, and digital download on January 24.

“I give something extra every time I do Montreux Jazz… Stravinsky Hall is special, like Carnegie or the Garden or Sydney Opera. I’ve dived in them all,” said Pop.

Iggy Pop is scheduled to hit the road again in 2025.

Born on this day in 1960 – INXS singer Michael Hutchence

Born on this day in 1960 – Michael Hutchence, singer, songwriter from Australian rock band INXS, who had the 1988 UK No.2 & US No.1 single ‘Need You Tonight’. Their 1987 album Kick has sold over 10m copies in the US alone and features four Top 10 singles; ‘Need You Tonight,’ ‘Devil Inside’, ‘New Sensation,’ and ‘Never Tear Us Apart.’ INXS has sold over 55 million records worldwide. Hutchence was found dead in his hotel suite in Sydney on 22nd Nov 1997 age 37.

Jon Bon Jovi Authors New Anthology Book ‘Bon Jovi: Forever’

Genesis Publications will release a new Bon Jovi anthology book in June.

“Bon Jovi: Forever” is narrated by the rock band’s frontman Jon Bon Jovi and illustrated with hundreds of photographs and items of memorabilia from the band’s personal archives.

“Bon Jovi: Forever” chronicles the band’s remarkable 40-year history.

The meticulously curated collection of over 1,300 images showcases a treasure trove of memorabilia, including handwritten lyrics, tour passes and posters, iconic stage costumes, guitars, studio track lists, and personal snapshots from the band’s private collections.

Complemented by an array of vivid photographs that capture Bon Jovi live, backstage, on tour, and in the studio, this book offers fans a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the band’s enduring legacy.

“I never laid out a plan for what I wanted people to feel from listening to our songs. If a song is pure of heart, if it comes from an emotional place and is not just ‘crafted’, chances are the listener will take that story and make it their own,” says Jon Bon Jovi.

The 264-page book is published in a limited edition of only 1,500 numbered copies worldwide, each hand signed by Jon Bon Jovi.

Chicago Announce Summer 2025 North American Tour Dates

Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Chicago, who are celebrating their 58th anniversary of touring, have announced a summer North American tour.

Chicago’s announcement comes after the band’s extraordinary 2024 gigs, during which they played sold-out shows in America and Japan, performing solo and co-headlining concerts with Earth, Wind & Fire.

Chicago will kick off their 37-date North American trek on June 13th with a performance at The Ledge Amphitheater in Waite Park, Minnesota. T he final show of the tour will take place on September 10th at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park in San Diego, California.

Born on this day in 1945 – English singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Eric Stewart who with the Mindbenders had the 1966 UK No.2 single ‘Groovy Kind Of Love’. With Hotlegs the 1970 UK No.2 single ‘Neanderthal Man’ and as a member of 10cc the 1975 UK No.1 & US No. 2 single ‘I’m Not In Love’ plus 10 other Top 30 hits). Stewart co-owned Strawberry Studios in Stockport, England from 1968 to the early 1980s. He also collaborated with Paul McCartney extensively in the mid-1980s, playing on or co-writing songs for McCartney’s solo albums Tug of War (1982), Pipes of Peace (1983), Give My Regards to Broad Street (1984), and Press to Play (1986).

Yes To Release Super Deluxe Edition Of ‘Close To The Edge’

On March 7, Yes will unveil a new Super Deluxe Edition of their massively influential classic fifth full-length album, Close to the Edge.

This definitive version comprises 5 CDs, 1 LP, and a Blu-ray. A newly remastered version of the original Close to the Edge graces both CD-1 and LP; the Blu-ray houses 2025 mixes by Steven Wilson in Dolby ATMOS and 5.1 Mix DTS-HD MA for the first time; Wilson’s remix and instrumentals also adorn CD-2.

An unearthed bevy of rare and previously unreleased recordings for the Super Deluxe Edition is featured on disc 3, and a 1972 live show on discs 4 and 5. Pre-order/Pre-save at https://lnk.to/YesCTTE

The Rarities disc features rough mixes, alternate versions, and edits of staple tracks from Close to the Edge. It also includes three previously unreleased Steven Wilson tracks — “Siberian Khatru,” “Cord of Life,” and “Total Mass Retain.” The Live at the Rainbow, London, England, 12/16/72 recording spans two discs and captures the group in their prime while on tour supporting the album.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees and Grammy Award-winning progressive rock pioneers have also shared an official release of the transcending performance of “Siberian Khatru (Live at The Rainbow, London, England, 12/16/72)” as a prelude to the Super Deluxe Edition.

Born on this day in 1949 – Mick Taylor

Born on this day in 1949 – English guitarist Mick Taylor. He replaced Peter Green in John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers and was a member of Mayall’s band from 1966 until joining The Rolling Stones in 1969 (aged 20). He appeared on some of the Stones’ classic albums including Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main St. Taylor has also worked with Bob Dylan, Mike Oldfield, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Jack Bruce and Ronnie Wood.

‘Eric Clapton Unplugged…Over 30 Years Later’ Heading To Theaters, Paramount+

Eric Clapton’s 1992 performance on “MTV Unplugged” is set for a 90-minute theatrical release and streaming special on Paramount+.

Eric Clapton Unplugged…Over 30 Years Later will be released by MTV and Paramount to select U.S. and U.K. theaters on January 27 and 28 with U.S. and global streaming following on Paramount+ from February 12.

Filmed at Bray Studios in Windsor, England on January 16, 1992, in the iconic installment of the “MTV Unplugged” series, Eric reimagined his catalog with first-time acoustic arrangements of “Layla,” “Tears in Heaven,” “Old Love” and more.

He also paid homage to the blues music that influenced him, performing classics like “Before You Accuse Me,” “Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out,” “Rollin’ and Tumblin'” and “Alberta.”

In this all-new extended, remixed, and remastered edition, Eric Clapton Unplugged…Over 30 Years Later will feature exclusive content of Eric discussing the inspiration behind specific songs and performances with the crew just before he took the stage, seamlessly integrated with the performance footage.

The subsequently released live album Unplugged, which came out in August 1992, became a monumental success dominating charts and selling more than 26 million copies worldwide. It went on to become the best-selling live album of all time and won three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.
