Pete Townshend Reveals Plans For ‘One-Man Shows’ After The Who Wrap Farewell Tour

Pete Townshend has revealed that he is planning to embark on some solo shows once his farewell tour with The Who wraps up.

The rock icons are currently out on their final run of U.S. shows, dubbed “The Song Is Over North America Farewell Tour.”

Speaking to AARP magazine, Townshend said he plans to embark on what he referred to as “one-man” solo outings after he and singer Roger Daltrey finish their current run of shows.

“We reserve the right to pop up again,” Townshend said of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band that announced their first final tour in 1982. “But I think one thing is very clear: that at our age, we will not.”

“I’ve got songs in all kinds of development, 140 tracks ready to go,” he said. “On The Age of Anxiety, [based on his 2019 first novel], I’ve got 26 songs. It’s not not autobiographical, but the scope of my own mental journey through addiction and recovery has led me to a place where I feel that I can write a character, a genuine, realistic character — youngish, who, rather than be depressed, has an acuity, a kind of instant, psychic feeling, and he decides that he wants to really dig in to make his audience as happy as they possibly can be.”

Ozzy Osbourne Documentary Pulled From BBC Hours Before Premiere

A documentary on Ozzy Osbourne’s final years, titled Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, was pulled from the BBC network scheduled on Monday (August 18), just a few hours before it was slated to premiere on BBC One.

The network said at the time that it has postponed the screening without giving reasons or a new transmission date.

However, the BBC has now said that it made a last-minute decision to postpone the documentary in order to respect the wishes of Ozzy’s family.

“Our sympathies are with the Osbourne family at this difficult time,” the BBC said. “We are respecting the family’s wishes to wait a bit longer before airing this very special film. The new [transmission] date will be confirmed shortly.”

Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home covers Ozzy’s return to the U.K., his farewell concert in July and his death at the age of 76 later that month.

Osbourne died on July 22, two weeks after performing his final show at his home soccer stadium, Villa Park, in Birmingham, England.

The film, described as a “moving and inspirational account” of the final chapter of Osbourne’s life, was filmed over three years with participation from his wife/manager Sharon Osbourne, and two of the couple’s children, Jack and Kelly.

“The resulting film is a moving portrait of one of the world’s most entertaining families at a pivotal moment in their history,” reads a description of the doc. “The strength of Ozzy and Sharon’s love for one another and their kids’ devotion to them is palpable. So too is the family’s acceptance of Ozzy becoming increasingly unwell.”

38 Special Release New Single ‘Slightly Controversial’ Featuring Train’s Pat Monahan

38 Special recently released a new single, “Slightly Controversial,” featuring Train’s Pat Monahan.

“Slightly Controversial” is the latest single from the classic southern rock band’s upcoming album, Milestone, set for release on September 19, marking their 50th anniversary. Milestone will mark 38 Special’s first album in more than two decades.

Speaking about “Slightly Controversial,” the band’s frontman and co-founder Don Barnes said, “This song is wrapped around a mystery woman who’s been through a few things in her life. She wants to keep people guessing and talking about her every move and they just can’t seem to figure her out. Her choice to be an enigma is for her own emotional protection. I’ve known someone like this and felt compelled to explore the story. The song is a powerful guitar banger with Pat Monahan and me singing together. Pat absolutely crushed it! We all had a great time putting that track together.”

Monahan adds, “A while back I sang on Joe Bonamassa’s version of ‘Hold On Loosely,’ one of the all-time great songs from 38 Special. Don heard it and contacted me about ‘Slightly Controversial.’ What a great honor to sing on a track from one of my favorite bands and songwriters. I hope I did it justice.”

Milestone tracklist:

“So Much So Right” (D. Barnes / J. Peterik)
“Slightly Controversial” feat. Pat Monahan (D. Barnes/B. Capps/R. Wilson)
“All I Haven’t Said” (C. Barnes/D. Barnes/J. Peterik)
“The Main Thing” (D.Barnes/J. Peterik)
“Long Long Train” (D.Barnes, R. Bachman)
“Looking For My Life” (D. Barnes, J. Peterik)
“Making Up For Lost Time” (D. Barnes, J. Peterik)
“Windows of Memories” (D. Barnes, J. Peterik)
“The Look” (J. Peterik)
