Rush Announce 40th Anniversary Edition Of ‘Grace Under Pressure’

Rock legends Rush have announced they will release a deluxe edition of their 10th studio album, Grace Under Pressure, on March 13th via UMe/Mercury and Anthem Records in celebration of the record’s 40th anniversary.

The set will contain original album tracks, a brand-new Terry Brown Grace Under Pressure album mix commissioned by Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, as well as era-specific concert recordings and Dolby Atmos mixes.

The Super Deluxe Editions will also contain a 52-page hardcover book containing liner notes by Geddy Lee. The LPs in the Super Deluxe Edition were cut at Abbey Road Studios and pressed on 180-gram audiophile black vinyl at GZ Media in the Czech Republic.

The sets will also contain new illustrations and re-imagined artwork by Hugh Syme, a custom acrylic Grace Under Pressure LED light-up display, a replica of the Grace Under Pressure tour book, a replica Maple Leaf Gardens/Toronto show concert ticket, a “Grace Under Pressure Tour” total access backstage pass, “Pressure Release,” a replica of the 6-page press release, three band member live photo lithos, and a poster from the Toronto show.

“Our songwriting had taken us to a different musical place,” said Geddy Lee of the album in a press release, “an expansion of our soundscape with a range of new technologies, not just keyboards and samples, but electronic drums too, while getting to know the new dude behind the console with a very different working style.”

“Listening to Grace Under Pressure in Atmos, you can really hear Rush’s progress and development as artists, because there’s much more room in the 360-degree soundfield to express it,” said producer/engineer Richard Chycki, who handled the Atmos mixes.

On this day in 1973 – ‘Superstition’ Becomes Stevie Wonder’s Second Number One Hit

On this day in 1973 – ‘Superstition’ the lead single from Stevie Wonder’s Talking Book album became his second No.1 single in the US, 10 years after his first No.1 hit. Jeff Beck created the original drum beat while in the studio with Wonder. After writing the song, Wonder offered it to Beck to record, but at the insistence of Berry Gordy, Wonder himself recorded it first. Beck was instead offered ‘Cause We’ve Ended As Lovers’, which he recorded on his Blow by Blow album in 1975.

About a half-dozen more artists will be added to the roster in the days leading up to the concert, according to Michelle Aquilato, the show’s producer.

‘Pink Floyd At Pompeii – MCMLIXXII’ To Be Released On 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray

The newly restored version of Pink Floyd’s iconic 1972 concert film, Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii, will be released on 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray on February 27.

The new version of the concert film – Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLIXXII – is presented in 4K, upgraded from the original 35mm footage with newly remixed Dolby Atmos, stereo and 5.1 audio. Following its praised return to cinemas in 2025, one of Pink Floyd’s most beloved works now becomes available in an ultimate home-viewing edition, presenting the iconic performance in its most immersive form to date.

Filmed in October 1971 and set in the hauntingly beautiful ruins of the ancient Roman Amphitheatre in Pompeii, Italy, this unique and immersive film captures Pink Floyd performing an intimate concert without an audience.

The worldwide theatrical release of the film in Spring 2025 received widespread acclaim.

The accompanying, and first-ever, album soundtrack, Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii, debuted at No. 1 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart.

Led by Lana Topham, Director of Restoration for Pink Floyd, the team’s mission was to preserve the integrity and beauty of the original picture.

The film also features stunning sound quality with a new home entertainment mix by Steven Wilson in Dolby Atmos, stereo and 5.1, enhancing the film’s depth and clarity whilst preserving the authenticity and spirit of the original 1972 release.

Pink Floyd released Wish You Were Here 50 in December, marking the 50th anniversary of their iconic album.

Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII is available to pre-order here.

On this day in 1978 – Chicago Guitarist Terry Kath Dies

On this day in 1978 – American musician and songwriter Terry Kath, best known as the original guitarist and founding member of the rock band Chicago, accidentally shot himself dead. After a party at roadie and band technician Don Johnson’s home in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California, Kath picked up a semiautomatic 9 mm pistol and, leaning back in a chair, said to Johnson, “Don’t worry about it … look, the clip is not even in it.” To satisfy Johnson’s concerns, Kath showed the empty magazine to Johnson. Kath then replaced the magazine in the gun, put the gun to his temple and pulled the trigger. Apparently, unbeknownst to Kath. However, there was still one round in the chamber, and he died instantly from the gunshot.

Metallica Reportedly Close To Las Vegas Sphere Residency Deal

Rock icons Metallica are reportedly close to finalizing a residency deal at Las Vegas’ Sphere.

According to The Sun, Metallica is “90 percent” done negotiating the terms of a Sphere residency in Las Vegas, set to take place in 2027 after the group’s scheduled “M72” world tour dates conclude in July 2026.

“Metallica having a residency at the Sphere is all anyone is talking about on the [Las Vegas] Strip. They have been to see the bosses and met all the tech team to talk through and plan out a show in principle,” the report says.

While contracts are reportedly still unsigned, the insider suggested the deal is edging closer, noting excitement among Sphere bosses about what Metallica could bring to the venue.

“Metallica will bring a different feel to a show there,” the source said.

In April 2025, Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett was asked by The Hollywood Reporter if he and his bandmates would entertain the possibility of performing at the Las Vegas Sphere, the 17,600-capacity venue that has transformed live entertainment since opening in September 2023.

He responded, “Oh, heck, yeah! That’s a great example of how venues are changing. That’s using modern technology to the fullest, to really up the levels of production and entertainment, connected to A.I. and making it a crazy experience.”
