The Prince Estate has announced the release of Timeless, a new posthumous Prince album, in partnership with Legacy Recordings, set to be released on August 28, 2026.

Timeless features 10 rare and previously unreleased recordings from Prince’s legendary Vault. It is the first Prince release ever curated to span every major era of his career, bringing together recordings from 1977 to 2016.

“Timeless traces Prince’s remarkable artistic evolution across nearly four decades, from his earliest studio recordings as a teenage prodigy in Minneapolis to one of his final recorded performances,” a press statement reads.

The announcement arrives alongside the release of the new single “Stone,” a previously unreleased recording from spring 1995 written by Sandra St. Victor, Tom Hammer, and Jules Van Even.

Peter Frampton recently shared a trailer for the upcoming documentary, Frampton, which is directed by his longtime bandleader Rob Author.

“I’m thrilled to share the official trailer for my documentary, Frampton,” said Frampton. “It’s been an incredible experience reflecting on this journey and the people who have been part of it along the way.”

The film made its world premiere on Thursday, June 4, at the 2026 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.

The documentary covers Frampton’s entire life and career, and features commentary from Bill Wyman, Roger Daltrey, Tom Morello, Cameron Crowe, Sheryl Crow, Nancy Wilson of Heart, Alice Cooper and Ringo Starr.

“From the explosive heights of Frampton Comes Alive! to the quiet introspection of his final tour, ‘Frampton’ is an intimate portrait of a rock icon who soared, stumbled, and rose again. Peter Gabriel recently shared a new single, “A Hard Lesson” from his forthcoming album o\i.

“A Hard Lesson” is written by Gabriel and produced by Gabriel and Mike Elizondo. The first mix to be released is the Bright-Side Mix by Mark “Spike” Stent.

“This is the oldest track of the project. It probably started in the late 80s or early 90s when I was in Senegal. I was falling in love with the music I heard there. I loved the tension created by the use of polyrhythms, particularly the threes and fours, so that was the start of this song,” Gabriel said.

“It’s a quirky, strange and long track but it’s a journey. It’s about trying to find a place, your place, how you fit in. I’ve enjoyed playing with old R&B and folk references as well,” he added.

i/o was Gabriel’s last album, released in 2023 song by song with each full moon cycle. o\i is being released the same way.

Roger Daltrey has asserted that The Who were “the first heavy metal band,” claiming that the group helped pave the way for the genre in the 1960s.

The rock icon made the comments during a new interview with Rolling Stone, saying that the band demonstrated multiple sounds, live performance tricks and more that would go on to be synonymous with heavy metal.

“We were just different than everybody else,” the singer told Rolling Stone. “Americans don’t really know the Who from the early ’60s, but as the drummer of Deep Purple [Ian Paice] said recently in a magazine, ‘The Who started it all.’ We were the first heavy metal band.”

He continued, “Jim Marshall invented the 4×12 [speaker cabinet], 100-watt stack for [Who guitarist] Pete Townshend. All the guitar smashing that Jimi Hendrix became famous for, in his style, was basically copied from Pete Townshend, first of all. We were doing it before anyone, but it’s not important in the long run.”

The English rock band was formed in London in 1964. Their classic lineup (1964-1978) consisted of lead vocalist Daltrey, guitarist Pete Townshend, bassist John Entwistle, and drummer Keith Moon. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.
