The Zombies’ Rod Argent Retires From Touring After Suffering Stroke
The Zombies’ Rod Argent has announced an immediate retirement from touring after suffering a stroke.
Argent’s retirement has forced the English rock band to cancel all of their upcoming shows, including two U.K. festival appearances that were scheduled for later this month.
“We are saddened to report that Rod Argent, founder, keyboardist, and primary songwriter of The Zombies, has suffered a stroke,” the band’s managers Chris Tuthill and Cindy da Silva said in a statement.
They added, “Rod had recently returned home from a triumphant Zombies tour of the UK, and spent a weekend in London with his beloved wife Cathy, celebrating his 79th birthday and their 52nd wedding anniversary, before the stroke occurred. He was hospitalized overnight and released the next day. Doctors have advised that Rod will need several months of rest and recuperation.”
Health issues had previously prevented Argent from touring. He had opted out of the Zombies’ U.S. tour last year.
The 79-year-old keyboardist was reportedly mulling whether to stop performing live due to bad health.

Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo ‘Starting Over’ On ‘Invincible’ Musical
Pat Benatar and her husband Neil Giraldo have revealed they have started reworking their musical Invincible.
The musical, an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, and built around songs from Benatar’s albums, debuted in late 2022 at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills.
“The place we’re at right now is about tearing it to shreds and starting over,” Benatar told Billboard. “We have the liberty to do that because we haven’t gone to even off-Broadway or anything like that. So we’re tearing it apart, doing a similar show but with a lot of different elements to it.”
After the changes, the musical will be “different and the same at the same time,” said Giraldo. “It will take it in a little different direction, maybe go back to the very beginning,” he said. “I think we got too far in the weeds with it and it started getting a little messy.”
The musical will feature classic Benatar/Giraldo tunes including “Love Is a Battlefield,” “Heartbreaker,” and “We Belong.”
Benatar says the process has been “exciting” and “fun,” and adds, “You just keep evolving ’til we get to the place we feel like it’s time to put it out there.”
It is not yet known when the musical will be out, but Benatar has suggested it could open next in Giraldo’s hometown of Cleveland.
“We love it there,” she said. “It’s a home kind of thing, as good as New York to us as a family place. It’s always fun to go there; the audiences are amazing, really receptive. So that’s possibly the first place to open in this (next) form.”

Journey Fan Scammed Out Of $122,000 By Steve Perry Imposter
A 75-year-old Journey fan in Cleveland, Ohio, was reportedly scammed out of $122,000 by an online imposter posing as Steve Perry.
The woman responded to a Facebook message in January from someone claiming to be the band’s former lead singer.
“The fake Mr. Perry had a business opportunity and of course ‘needed a woman in his life,'” according to Westlake police.
The Westlake Police said that over the months that followed their initial conversation, the woman, believing she was speaking with the singer, sent over $72,000 to the individual. And that wasn’t all as she also sent another $50,000 in gift cards.
When the imposter began demanding pictures of her passports and driver’s license, the woman realized she was being scammed and went to the police.
They are attempting to track down the criminal and advised the woman to report the scam to her bank and the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center.
