In 1999 – Jeff Beck begins a headlining U.S. tour at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C., in support of his current Epic album, “Who Else!”

In 1989 – The Rolling Stones signed a $70 million (£40 million) contract to play 50 North American dates. It was the largest contract in rock history.

In 1975 – Led Zeppelin went to No.1 on the UK chart with the double album ‘Physical Graffiti’, the first on their own ‘Swan Song’ label, the album spent six weeks at No.1 on the US chart.

And in 1947 – Ry Cooder is born in Los Angeles.He is known for his slide guitar work, his interest in the American roots music, and, more recently, for his collaborations with traditional musicians from many countries. Cooder was ranked number 8 on Rolling Stone’s “The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.”
