The Oskaloosa city council held a regular meeting last night and approved a resolution for a land swap with the Oskaloosa Community School District for the district’s building trades program. The agreement has been in the works for months; the council agreed to negotiations with the district in April 2026.
The city agreed to prepare properties owned by the district south of I Avenue East and north of Community Stadium, between North 1st Street and North 3rd Street, for residential development by the district. In return, the district will deed certain properties along the south side of 3rd Avenue West and east of the Middle and High Schools, in addition to making a cash payment to the city. The district’s total contribution is valued at $945,000. The resolution was approved unanimously by the council.
The council also swore in officer Autumn Reisetter to the Oskaloosa Police Department, and they discussed proposed amendments to the city’s development agreement with Oskaloosa Post Development LLC, the owner of the American Table Restaurant. No official action was taken, but the restaurant is expected to reopen at some point in November.
The next regular meeting for the Oskaloosa city council is scheduled for November 2.
