It appears some scam artists aren’t following the social distancing recommendation. Oskaloosa City Councilman Steve Burnett mentioned this at Monday’s (4/20) City Council meeting:
“We got a call today from the (Mahaska) County Sheriff’s Department that MCG employees were going door to door in our community. And I wanted the community to know that in no way, shape or form do MGC employees go door to door during normal times, let alone these times when we are asked by our Governor to self-isolate.”
Burnett works for MCG. Also at Monday’s Oskaloosa City Council meeting, the Council approved plans for curb and gutter replacement on 6th Street. Mayor David Krutzfeldt says the contract bid by JC Construction to perform the work came in at just over $62,000—30 percent lower than the engineer’s estimate.
