William Penn’s men’s soccer team set the school record for wins in a season Tuesday (10/16). Did they ever, as they beat Faith Baptist Bible 9-0 in Oskaloosa. That gives the Statesmen a 12-3 record on the year. Freshman Shalon Knight scored a first half hat trick to put the Statesmen on their way. That wasn’t the only good news for the Statesmen, as they received votes in this week’s NAIA rankings—the first time in William Penn history that’s happened.
The Statesmen women’s soccer team was also a winner Tuesday, beating Faith Baptist Bible 7-0. Hannah Baker scored twice for William Penn. The Statesmen soccer teams play at Mid America Nazarene on Saturday—both of Nazarene’s teams are nationally ranked.
In college volleyball, Clarke defeated William Penn three sets to one last night at Penn Gymnasium. Junior Danielle Pendzinski had a dozen kills to lead the Statesmen. William Penn’s next game is Friday night at home against Benedictine.
And William Penn’s Zachary Chegwidden is the Heart of America Conference men’s golfer of the month. The junior from Essex, England placed in the top six in both tournaments he played.
