Bob Marley is the subject of a new biopic being developed by his son Ziggy Marley, in association with Paramount Pictures, Deadline reported.
While no details have been revealed, it’s likely that the film will follow Marley’s rise from childhood in Jamaica to becoming one of the world’s leading reggae musicians.
He formed the Wailers in 1963, then continued into a solo career when the band split in 1974, although he continued to release records under the Bob Marley and the Wailers moniker. His album Exodus, released three years later, secured his place in musical history. He died in 1981 at 36 from cancer, and survived by his wife Rita Marley – a member of the I Threes, the Wailers’ backing singers – as well as by Ziggy and other children.
