While a pair of Number 1 seeds advanced to the Final Four yesterday, beating a #2 and #3, there were some far more crooked numbers that advanced on Saturday.

And the most crooked of them all was Saturday’s opening Elite Eight game between Number 11 Loyola Chicago Ramblers and the Number 9 K-State Wildcats.

With those numbers, this was certainly the game that guaranteed a Cinderella.

And when the clock struck midnight it was the Number 11 Ramblers who were still dancing, with a decisive 78-62 win.

Ben Richardson scored a career-high 23 points making the 11th-seeded bracket busting Ramblers (32-5) tied for the lowest-seeded team ever to reach the Final Four.

And while that may not be a first, they can still be because the other three teams—LSU in 1986, George Mason in 2006, and VCU in 2011—all lost in the following round.

Next up for Loyola will be the Michigan Wolverines who stand in the way of Loyola becoming the lowest-seeded team ever to win a national championship, a distinction held by No. 8 seed Villanova since 1985.
