OFFBEAT NEWS:
More Than 100 Reptiles Found Inside Home
To some, the idea of a snake in their house sounds like a nightmare. For one man on Long Island, one wasn’t enough. After a break-in was reported at a house in Carle Place, authorities found more than 100 reptiles in the home, all living in abysmal conditions.
The conditions were so bad in fact, at least 10 of the animals, including snakes and lizards, were dead. “If you’re not taking care of them and you’re abusing them, then why would you have a hundred of them?” Michael Ralbovsky from RSS Oasis Animal Sanctuary mused. “It doesn’t make sense.”
So far, one person has been arrested. Christopher Koenig was led out of the house in handcuffs and now faces an aggravated cruelty to animals charges.

Human Doctors Help Gorilla Give Birth
A group of doctors and medical professionals in Pennsylvania got quite a surprise when they were called to the local zoo. Kira, a 17-year-old Western lowland gorilla, had gone into labor but was suffering complications.
The Philadelphia Zoo brought in a team of veterinarians along with an ob-gyn, surgeons, and anesthesiologists used to working with humans in order to help Kira.
After an hour-and-a-half, Kira gave birth to a healthy baby boy. And by the way? Having a safe delivery wasn’t just important for the obvious reasons. Turns out, Western lowland gorillas are listed as critically endangered species. Congrats to all!

Police arrest drunk Tin Man:
As if being arrested on drunk driving charges isn’t embarrassing Nicholas Sherman is wearing Tin Man face makeup. According to him, he had just left a nearby business “where he was hired to portray a character from the Wizard of Oz.” A homeowner in Sullivan, New York called the police to report 31-year-old “Sherman had driven to the residence with another male and was asked to leave.” It turns out the low-budget Tin Man’s blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit.
