Chuck Negron, one of the three founding members of Three Dog Night, has passed away. He was 83.
According to his representative, Negron passed away at his home in Studio City, California, on Monday, February 2nd, surrounded by his family. He had been battling heart failure in addition to COPD in the later years of his life.
Negron was the lead singer on some of Three Dog Night’s biggest hits, including “Joy to the World,” “One,” “Easy to Be Hard,” “An Old Fashioned Love Song,” and “The Show Must Go On”.
Three Dog Night was founded in 1967 by Danny Hutton, Cory Wells, and Negron. The band achieved success during their initial decade, from 1967 to 1976, earning 21 top 40 hits and selling 60 million records.
However, the band fell apart in the mid-1970s due to Negron’s drug issues. He later launched a solo career in the 1990s and detailed his life in his autobiography, “Three Dog Nightmare.”
