Track and Field Athletes, Teams Garner Academic Laurels

OSKALOOSA — The Statesmen track and field teams were rewarded for excellence in the classroom as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its 2025 academic awards Monday.

Seven member of the men’s program were named All-Academic Athletes, including D’Artagnon Beaver (Sr., Rockford, Ill., Human Services), Gavin Huff (Fr., Mascoutah, Ill., Mechanical Engineering), Showalter Johnson (Sr., Nassau, Bahamas, New Media), Andrew Miller (So., Le Claire, Iowa, Exercise Science), Micah Mills (So., Houston, Texas, Psychology), Brandon Williams (Sr., Fountain, Colo., Engineering Technology), and Xzavion West (Jr., Guthrie, Ky., Undecided).

To be eligible for the award, athletes must own a 3.25 cumulative Grade Point Average, meet either the ‘A’ or ‘B’ national-qualifying standard in either the indoor or outdoor campaigns, and have attended the nominating institution for at least two semesters.

The men’s and women’s teams also both eclipsed the 3.0 GPA mark to be listed as All-Academic Teams.  The men owned a 3.13 GPA during the 2024-2025 school year, while the women posted a 3.09 GPA.
