North Mahaska Girls Champs, Boys 6th at South Tama

Girls Meet

TAMA – North Mahaska parlayed three firsts and eight runnerup spots to take the team title at South Tama Tuesday. The Warhawks outscored Hudson 134-125 for the crown. Kieren Perez led the way with four individual placings.

Perez won the 100 meters in 13.06 seconds then took second in the 100 hurdles in 17.33 and jumped 14-feet, 11-inches in the long jump. She added a third in the 200 meters in 27.80.

Nataliya Linder added a first in the long jump at 15-10 and second in the 400-meter hurdles (1:11.29) and the 400 meters in 1:04.53.

Emmerson Jedlicka Picked up a first place finish in the 1,500 meters in 5:22.90 and was third in the 3,000 in 11:05.27.

The Warhawks scored second in four relays. Members of the relay teams was not available at press time. The 1,600-meter relay finished in 4:39.54; the 3,200-meter relay team ran 11:06.7; sprint med was second in 2:01.86 and distance medley team finished in 4:59.35.

Aly Steil was third in the 400 in 1:05.28 and Ava Hufffman was third in the 800 in 2:39.26. The final third came in the 800-meter relay in 1:59.99.

North Mahaska will run at PCM Thursday and BGM Friday.

Boys Meet

In spite of their low numbers the North Mahaska track team continues to make strides as they prepare for the conference meet and state qualifier in a couple weeks. Tuesday the team competed at South Tama brining home sixth in the eight-team meet. Host South Tama ran away with the title scoring 152 points with Hudson in second with 106. North Mahaska accumulated 41 points, one point behind Ackley-Geneva-Wellsburg-Steamboat Rock.

Max Reed was involved in two second place finishes. He was second in the 110-meter hurdles in 17.5 seconds and part of the shuttle hurdle team with Jackson Doak, Charlie Goemaat and Tyson Ferguson, who finished in 1:09.55.

North Mahaska added another runnerup spot in the 1,600-meter relay with Ferguson, Jeb Goemaat, William Cox and C. Goemaat carrying the baton in 3:52.86.

Ferguson added a fourth in the 400 hurdles in 1:02.41 and Doak was fourth in the long jump with a leap of 18-feet, 2.5 inches. The 800-relay team of Cox, C. Goemaat, Doak and Ferguson covered the distance in 1:41.6.

Axl Patterson added a pair fifth place finishes in the distance events. He was fifth in the 1,600 in 5:10.36 and the 3,200 in 11:31.16. J. Goemaat was sixth in the 800 meters in 2:17.61 and Gerrit Van Utrecht was seventh in the 100 in 12.21. Cox ran eighth in the 200 in 25.20.

The boys run at PCM Thursday then will head to BGM on Friday. Both are coed meets.
