NORTH MAHASKA GIRLS TRACK FINISHES 2ND AT EBF

North Mahaska Girls Track Finishes 2nd at EBF

EDDYVILLE – North Mahaska had a strong outing at the Burdell Hensley Invitational track meet Thursday, but host Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont took the title with 154 points. North Mahaska was second with 104. The meet featured mostly Class 2A and 3A teams, so the placings were impressive.

North Mahaska earned three first place finishes and four seconds at the meet. Kieren Perez placed in three individual events. Nataliya Linder continued to dominate the long jump winning the event with a leap of 16-feet, 8-inches. Perez was fourth at 14-4. 

Emmerson Jedlicka placed first and second in the distance races. She was first in the 1,500 meters in 5 minutes 24.62 seconds. She ran second in the 3,000 in 11:32.25. She lost to Ellie Yates of Sigourney for the first time this season, who clocked an 11:27.25.

The 3,200-meter relay team of Allie Veiseth, Amber Knockel, Abby Van Weelden and Ava Huffman won in 11:04.33. Veiseth, Huffman and Van Weelden teamed with Olivia Ridgeway for a runnerup spot in the distance medley. The quartet covered the distance in 5:01.45.

Huffman was second in the 800 meters in 2:40.31 and Linder took second in the 400 hurdles in 1:07.93.

NM picked up four individual third placements. Jayden Hiner took third in the high jump going over the bar at 4-6. Perez was third in the 100 meters in 13.4 and in the 100 hurdles in 17.77. Aly Steil added the last third in the 400 meters in 1:04.87. Steil also added a fourth in the 200 in 29.32.

Ridgeway, Linder, Alivia Schock and Steil ran fourth in the sprint medley in 2:01.54. The 800-meter relay team of Ridgeway, Perez, Schock and Linder was fourth in 1:58.33. 

Knockel, Schock, Van Weelden and Veiseth ran fifth in the 1,600-meter relay with a time of 4:49.64.
