OSKALOOSA — Chelsey Huff (Sr., Douds, Iowa, Exercise Science) earned national recognition this week as NAIA SB named her Pitcher of the Week Tuesday.
Huff’s stellar performance highlighted the William Penn’s doubleheader sweep over Missouri Valley Saturday. The senior ace made history by throwing the first perfect game for the Statesmen in 18 years, a remarkable achievement that also marked the first perfect game of her career.
From the moment she took the mound, Huff was nearly untouchable, striking out the first nine batters she faced. She finished the game with 14 strikeouts, while, unofficially, Huff threw 75 pitches, with 63 of them being strikes.
This season, Huff has been a force to be reckoned with. She is 6-3 with a 2.60 Earned Run Average, and has held opponents to a .225 batting average. Over 64 2/3 innings pitched, the senior has notched 86 strikeouts.
Established in 2023, NAIA SB provides independent coverage of NAIA softball.
