STEELY DAN'S 'KATY LIED' TO BE REISSUED ON VINYL

Steely Dan’s ‘Katy Lied’ To Be Reissued On Vinyl

Steely Dan’s fourth album, Katy Lied, which was released in 1975, is set to be reissued on vinyl on January 31, 2025 via Geffen/UMe.

Katy Lied, remastered by Bernie Grundman from the original analgo tapes, will be available as a limited edition premium 45 RMP version on Ultra High-Quality Vinyl from Analogue Productions and a Super Audio CD.

UMe’s standard 33 1/3 RPM 180-gram version has been remastered by Joe Nino-Hernes at Sterling Sound from high-resolution digital files and pressed at Precision. They will be housed in reproductions of the original artwork.

The 45 RPM UHQR versions will be pressed at Analogue Productions’ Quality Record Pressings on 200-gram Clarity Vinyl, packaged in a deluxe box, and will include a booklet detailing the entire process of making a UHQR along with a certificate of inspection.

Katy Lied, released on ABC Records in March 1975, marked a significant milestone in Steely Dan’s discography, exemplifying the band’s unique synthesis of rock, jazz, and pop. The album was the first recorded by Walter Becker and Donald Fagen after the exit of guitarist Jeff “Skunk” Baxter and drummer Jim Hodder from the group.

Katy Lied, which peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard Album chart, has been certified Gold by the RIAA. The record featured the top-40 hit “Black Friday,” along with “Bad Sneakers” and “Doctor Wu.”

Steely Dan, who began reissuing their albums on vinyl in November 2022, have given the vinyl treatment to seven of their albums with the band’s founding member Donald Fagen overseeing the process. The band will close out the series in mid-2025 with 1976’s The Royal Scam.
