In an interview with Anthony Mason of “CBS This Morning” that took place at San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall a few days after the passing of Grateful Dead co-founder and bassist Phil Lesh, the surviving members of the group – Bonny Weir, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart – revealed that they were planning a reunion to celebrate the band’s 60th anniversary with Lesh next year.

They said they had even scheduled time to rehearse for their comeback performance. Lesh died on Friday, October 25 at age 84.

“I was hoping that we could play with him again one more time,” Kreutzmann said. “So that, that was my sadness…’Cause I know he wanted to play with us again too.”

“We were kickin’ it around,” Weir added. “In fact, we were gonna, we were gonna get together and, and kick some songs around tomorrow.”

“I was hopin’ that we could do it,” Kreutzmann said, and Weir added, “We were gonna see where it goes. But we were just gonna play the four of us.”

Weir, Kreutzmann and Hart last performed with Lesh at the “Fare Thee Well” concerts in 2015 that marked the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Grateful Dead.
