Iowa State Eighth in Final Polls

AMES — The Iowa State men’s basketball team finished the 2023-24 campaign in the top 10 of both the Associated Press and the USA Today Coaches Poll. The Cyclones came in at number eight in both polls.

This is the fifth time in program history the Cyclones have finished the season in the top 10 in the AP Poll. The No. 8 ranking is the second-highest final poll ranking in program history behind the No. 6 ranking the 2000 squad had.

Four Big 12 schools were ranked in the final poll, led by Houston at No. 3. Baylor finished No. 16, while Kansas rounded out the league at No. 19. National Champion UConn received all 58 first place votes.

Iowa State finished the year 29-8 overall and 13-5 in the Big 12. The 29 wins are the second-most in program history. The Cyclones won the Big 12 Championship for the fifth time in the last 10 tournaments. Iowa State advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in program history.
