No. 3 Iowa Throttles No. 14 Indiana

IOWA CITY — The third-ranked Iowa women’s basketball team downed No. 14 Indiana, 84-57, in a primetime conference matchup inside a sold-out Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Saturday night. Iowa improved to 17-1 on the season and 6-0 in conference play.

All-American Caitlin Clark registered a game-high 30 points, 11 assists, and five rebounds. Molly Davis eclipsed her career-best in points in a Hawkeye uniform with 18, and Kate Martin played a key role on defense grabbing a career high 12 boards finishing with a double-double adding 10 points. Gabbie Marshall finished with 12 points shooting 4-7 from three.

It was a back-and-forth game in the first quarter with the Hawkeyes leading 19-17 after one. Indiana was able to tie it up at 19 at the start of the second, but the Hawkeyes took control leading through the rest of the quarter. Davis made back-to-back layups followed by back-to-back three by Clark at the end of the second to give Iowa the 43-37, lead going into halftime.

The Hawkeyes came out of halftime on a 11-2 run. Clark led the quarter with 10 points as Iowa outscored the Hoosiers 22-11, in the third to give them their biggest lead of the game, a 17-point margin, going into the fourth. Iowa continued its run through the fourth outscoring Indiana 19-9, to close out the game.
