MONROE – North Mahaska faced some still competition from Class 2A schools at the PCM Invitational track meet Thursday. North Mahaska had the best finish of the Class1A schools with 73 points. Knoxville won the meet with 197 points followed by PCM with 135, Pleasantville 127 and Chariton with 93.
North Mahaska’s best individual efforts came on the arm of Gage Vande Voort in the discus and the feet of Brayden Veiseth in the 3,200 meters. Vande Voort, a junior, placed second with a throw of 115-feet. Ruger Kendall of Knoxville won with a throw of 118-03. Veiseth was two seconds behind Knoxville’s Isaac Rankin in the long distance. Veiseth clocked 10 minutes, 46.58 seconds while Rankin ran the course in 10:44.74.
North Mahaska’s 1,600-meter relay team of Veiseth, Asher DeBoef, Nate Sampson and Lane Harmon took second in 3:41.88. The Warhawks scored one double in the shot put. Ben Johannes was fourth with a. throw of 40-05 and Vande Voort was sixth at 39-04.
