The Grateful Dead officially joined TikTok last Thursday, which also marked the biggest “stoner holiday” of the year, 4/20.
The Grateful Dead’s TikTok account “will serve as an outlet to celebrate the decades of music, generations of community, and endless array of creativity that has woven the band and its fans into every new era of the world’s counterculture and consciousness,” the band said in a press release.
The Grateful Dead made its debut on the platform with a 30-second video playing in the background of the soundtrack of a remastered 1969 live recording of their song “St. Stephen”.
Content on The Grateful Dead’s TikTok page, which already attracted more than 251 million views, will be updated daily with more music and other surprise video clips.
Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Mick Fleetwood, Radiohead, and The Beatles are among other legendary bands that have already joined TikTok.
